Infographic/Key figures – Trains, tramways, buses & smart data to serve the German climate resilience plan
German cities are historically very well served by public transport. In this very urban country, the dynamism of regional transport stems from a political tradition. The German rail network is a «polycentric star» model that connects major cities with each other. Trains, suburban trains, metro and buses are therefore very widely used.
In order to cope with the climatic challenges, concomitantly with the undeniable increase of the needs in urban mobility and in freight, Germany makes clearly of public transport and rail, levers of resilience.
